Recycling Week

UCT has its own two-bin recycling system with green bins for recyclables (paper, cardboard, plastic, tins, glass) and yellow bins for non-recyclables items (food waste, contaminated food wrappers, coffee cups, contaminated polystyrene containers, etc.). However not everyone at UCT is aware of what is and isn’t recyclable or if they are, they still do not use the bins correctly.

This week raises awareness specifically about how to use the bins correctly and also shows students the importance of recycling and reducing waste. This is done through talks, screenings, flash mobs with Green Police, recycling competitions, recycled artwork displays and so on.
