Climate Action Project

The Climate Action Project (CAP) aims to provide UCT students with a platform to put their knowledge, lessons and initiatives into action to combat climate change and promote sustainability at UCT and the wider community.

Climate Action Project (CAP) originated from a ACDI masters class. Those students decided that learning about climate change was not enough; more action was needed! Therefore, CAP was born. CAP is still headed by ACDI masters students, but is now more closely coordinated with GCI and its projects. Both groups have a similar mandate and pool resources when necessary. CAP raises awareness specifically about climate change mitigation and adaptation, this is often done through movie or documentary screenings, hosting panel discussions, inviting guest speakers, etc. One of the main campaigns that CAP oversees is the Fossil Fuel Divestment campaign. More detail can be found under Divestment.
