South Africa Film and Video Project (SAFVP)

The South Africa Film and Video Project (SAFVP) is an international collaboration of a number of academic institutions who are creating a searchable database which lists several thousand films, moving images and videos about the history, politics and culture of South Africa from earliest times to the current day. Of importance to social scientists are materials relating to colonial rule in South Africa, apartheid, the ANC, the life and work of Nelson Mandela and rise of Black majority rule. Entries include publisher and distributer details. Many also have annotations on content. References are to documentaries and feature films. Holdings information in the partner libraries is also provided.
