United States presidential transition: C-Span resources
This site was created by public service broadcaster C-Span to provide
basic information and news about Barack Obama's transition to the
American presidency in January 2009. It includes a useful set of video
films by historians and government officials explaining the transition
process. This includes discussion of legislative, personnel and
management issues. Also accessible are some interviews with previous
presidents and press releases from Mr Obama and his team. Links are
provided to other official American government sites where further
information about documents can be found. Copyright and technical

This site was created in the wake of the 2008 American presidential
elections to provide public information about the transition of Barack
Obama to American president in January 2009. It includes a basic
biography of president elect Barack Obama and vice-president elect Joe
Biden, new headlines, recent speech transcripts and blog postings
providing updates on current events relating to the change in
government and background information on the transition and inaugural
process. Also accessible are links to resources about presidential
inaugurations.

Transition resources: Council for Excellence in Government
The Council for Excellence in Government is an indepdent US based
research organisation. This section of its website provides access to
information on the transition of Barack Obama to American president in
January 2009. It includes background information (factsheets, videos)
on the presidential transition process, news on the planning and
handover process, plus links to reports and other websites relating to
it.This includes coverage of some of the economic, social and political
issues facing the new president.

Obama's transition to power 2008: PBS newshour resources
This site was created by American broadcaster PBS to provide coverage
of the election victory of Barack Obama and his transition to the
American presidency in 2009. It provides free access to films of PBS
new programmes and discussion series. Also provided are links to the
treacher resources section of the website where some associated lesson
plans and classroom activities can be found. Copyright and technical

White House Transition Project
The White House Transition Project is a colaboration between a number
of leading US scholars, universities and research bodies (including
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill ; James A. Baker III
Institute for Public Policy; Presidency Research Group of the American
Political Science Association and Council for Excellence in
Government). Since 1999 it has conducted research into past and present
transitions of American presidents. The website provides free access to
reports, photographs and papers covering all transitions from 2000
onwards. These include materials relating to the transition of Barack
Obama to the presidency in 2009. Full text reports include the
institutional memory series which details organisational structures
there are also evaluations of the challenges faced by past
transitions.The site also hosts a searchable directory of experts on
this issue.
