The latest report of the Secretary-General on Children and Armed Conflicts is now available (A/65/820–S/2011/250). The report covers the period from January to December 2010 and among others, it

provides information on grave violations committed against children, in particular the recruitment and use of children, the killing and maiming of children, rape and other sexual violence against children, the abduction of children, attacks on schools and hospitals, and the denial of humanitarian access to children by parties to armed conflict in contravention of applicable international law

Relationship between the UN and the African Union

 The Secretary-General recently issued a Report on the relationship between the United Nations and regional organizations, in particular the African Union, in the maintenance of international peace and security (S/2008/186). The latest report of the Secretary-General on Children and Armed Conflict has been issued (A/62/609-S/2007/757). The report concerns ending the recruitment and use of children in conflicts, including killing and maiming of children, rape and other sexual violence, abductions, denial of humanitarian access to children and attacks against schools and hospitals by parties to armed conflict. The report concludes with a list of recommendations and includes annexes naming groups that use children in various conflicts around the world.
