'E-journal of International History' (eJIH) was a free full-text ejournal, published by The Institute of Historical Research at the Centre for Contemporary British History. eJIH was an RAE-approved publication. At January 2009 there are 9 issues online, and the journal appears to have run between 2000 and 2005. Each issue contains a single but substantial 10,000-word academic paper, with the focus on British history in international context. Example titles are: 'From Tribal Rebellions to Revolution: British Counter-Insurgency Operations in Southwest Arabia 1955-67'; 'The Romance of Decline: The Historiography of Appeasement and British National Identity'; and 'The Other Other Missiles of October: The Thor IRBMs and the Cuban Missile Crisis', among others. The website has details of the editor, details of the scope of the journal, and details of the submission process, although it seems possible it has since been replaced by the commericial journal 'Twentieth Century British History'. A website developed by EBSCO and the Hasselt University Library, originally designed to support researchers in developing countries, it is now offers open access to over 13,000 full text electronic journals. These cover a wide range of subject areas which extend beyond the natural sciences into the social sciences, education, history, environmental studies and anthropology. The site also offers searching of a number of specialist collections which include: the AGORA program, set up by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) and contains agricultural titles; The Health InterNetwork Access to Research Initiative (HINARI), set up by the World Health Organization which contains medical titles; Online Access to Research in the Environment (OARE), an international public-private consortium coordinated by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Yale University, and leading science and technology publishers. The politics section includes materials on public administration, colonisation, forced migration and International relations. There is also wide coverage of comparative politics and the politics of developing nations. It is possible to browse titles by subject area. African security review

African Security Review (ASR) is an electronic publication that covers issues pertaining to security in Sub-Saharan Africa including: national security governance; peacekeeping; and military defence and intelligence. Contributions to the journal have included discussions and analyses of: biological weapons with relation to Africa; threats posed by food shortages and HIV/AIDS to security and human life; and the role of the International Criminal Court in investigating genocide in Africa and abuses by UN peacekeepers. Publications can freely be downloaded (in HTML or PDF) from the website of ASR. Each issue is organised into the categories: general and editorial commentaries; features; African watch; essays; and book reviews. The journal will prove invaluable to graduates, academics and policy makers as it provides a rich and broad perspective to the notion of security. ASR is a continuation of the African Defence Review (1994), which itself is a continuation of the Southern African Defence Review (1992-1993). Journal of Sustainable Development in Africa (JSDA) is an electronic journal that publishes scholarly research on sociological, political, economical and environmental factors in sustainable development in Africa. JSDA emphasises both theory and application to uphold its interdisciplinary approach and provide a practicable resource for policy makers to draw upon. The issues covered in the journal have included: farming and industry; political education and development; rural financial marketing reform; assessing natural resources in Nigeria; hydrological trends in Zimbabwe and climatic variability; transportation of hazardous waste in Sub-Saharan Africa; and a study of the psychological basis for corruption in Nigeria. It is certainly a nice resource, and public officials, administrators, and anyone with even a passing interest in the world of governance will want to bookmark this site. For the most recent news from the world of public affairs, visitors will want to browse on over to the "Today's News" section on the homepage. The sections offered here include "In the States", "The Local Scene", and "Politics". Visitors can also sign up for email updates, if they are so inclined. Along with selected articles and musings from the print edition, the "Online Specials" area brings together resources created especially for the site. One indispensable resource is the "Governing Sourcebook", which contains topical data for counties, cities and states which covers economic development, management, public safety, and so on. Finally, the "Daily Digit" feature provides insights into statistics that deal with everything from the decline in the death rate from heart disease in Minnesota to the population increase in Newark in recent years.
