"AfricaMap is based on the Harvard University Geospatial Infrastructure (HUG) platform, and was developed by the Center for Geographic Analysis to make spatial data on Africa easier for researchers to discover and explore. " In addition to a range of map layers (economic, environmental, ethno and linguistic, historic, politics and population) there are a range of boundary data and topographic features. This Google maps-based facility also allows the toggling between physical/street/satallite views. Maps can also be downloaded and shared. From Intute.ac.uk

Show World
SHOW is an online information tool launched in May 2008 by Mapping Worlds. The website offers users a new way to look at the world by resizing countries on the map according to a series of global issues. Data is obtained from a number of non-governmental organisations such as World Bank, Amnesty International, USGS, Unicef, ILO, IMF. Variables are mapped from a range of subjects including: people (demographics, health, education); planet (animal resources, environment, minerals, energy); business (economy, transport, global brands, industry); politics (government, migration, law & order); living (sports, travel). Users can also suggest a map. SHOW also allows users to download datasets (MS Excel), maps and animations. These can be shared across the Internet through websites, blogs and email.
