knowledge of and perceptions of the forthcoming elections in Sudan 2010.
Sudan VoteMonitor was created by the Sudan Institute for Research and Policy to monitor the conduct of the 2010 Sudanese elections. Its website provides information about the research, a blog, YouTube channel and a space for citizens to report incidents of political violence and electoral fraud during the election campaigns.

As the situation in Darfur continues to unfold, a number of media outlets have continued to investigate the United Nations involvement in the region. African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation In Darfur

The final report of the Panel of Experts established pursuant to Security Council resolution 1591 (2005) concerning the Sudan has been issued (S/2007/584). The report covers the work of the panel in four substantive areas:
- monitoring implementation of the arms embargo on Darfur;
- monitoring implementation of targeted financial and travel-related sanctions against individuals designated by the Security Council in its resolution 1672 (2006);
- submission of recommendations to the Security Council; and
- provision of information on individuals who impede the peace process, commit violations of international humanitarian and human rights law, violate the arms embargo, or are responsible for offensive military overflights.

A new United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) report presents the findings of the Post-Conflict Environmental Assessment of Sudan and provides detailed recommendations for follow-up action. Learn more from the press release, the synthesis report (pdf, 1.79 MB), or the full report (pdf, 34 MB). The goal of the UNEP assessment was to develop a solid technical basis for medium-term corrective action in the field of environmental protection and sustainable development.
