In 2009 ICTS embarked on a project to investigate the delivery of high performance computing services for education and research. The purpose of this blog is to keep UCT staff and students informed as to the progress and developments of this project. The blog's content will be highly technicaldue to the subject matter and is intended for people already familiar with high performance computing.
The goals of the project are:
1 - Investigate various HPC options.
2 - Develop skills in the HPC arena in both middleware and applications.
3 - Implement a stable and sustainable HPC solution.
4 - Establish ties with the reserch community at UCT and also in the wider Southern African area.
Two senior ICTS technicians, Timothy Carr and Andrew Lewis were selected to support this project.
