Jing is a screen capture program with a few novel differences. Like many screen capture programs it features a capture field that allows users to easily define what they wish to incorporate into each individual "capture". Visitors can also use the software to collaborate on a design project by sharing visual materials and even instruct family members on how to use different applications and programs. There is also a paid version of Jing available for $15 which gives users the ability to record directly from their webcam. This version is compatible with computers running Windows XP or Vista or Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later. [KMG]

Some people have been dedicated fans of the Slim Browser for years, and others who might not be acquainted with this novel browser may be won over by its features. The user interface is a bit busy, but users can customize the program to rearrange the toolbars, and also add or remove different buttons. This version also contains a built-in internet form filler, a spell checker, and a variety of customizable skins. This version is compatible with computers running Windows 98 and newer. [KMG]

Firefox 3.5, a review

Firefox 3.5: Excellent for fans, but competition getting tougher

Firefox 3.5 brings the world's second-most popular browser up to speed with current browsing technology and trends, and perhaps nudges it just a bit ahead of the competition. However, it is by no means the leap ahead that its predecessor Firefox 3 was, and it's clear that the competition isn't going away anytime soon.

Available for Windows, Windows Portable, Mac, or Linux, Firefox 3.5 nevertheless represents the best Firefox we've yet seen from Mozilla.

Google Chrome 1.0.154.59

Posted by Celia Walter | 3 May, 2009
The purpose of Google's Chrome browser is to effectively make the "browser disappear" and to make the web "faster, safer, and easier." One rather noticeable feature is that instead of having a traditional toolbar, Chrome puts its tabs on top, and allows users to move them around to suit their own purposes. Users can also take advantage of the individual controls within each tab, which include forward and back buttons. Finally, the browser also contains a hybrid device which brings together the search box and the address bar. This version of Chrome is compatible with computers running Windows Vista and XP. Google Chrome 1.0

Google recently released their first full version of the web browser Chrome, and by most accounts, it's a valuable addition in this particular area of applications. Visitors will note that the focus here is on the pages that people are viewing, rather than the sometimes cumbersome applications and tools that are gathered around the borders. Chrome doesn't really offer many plug-ins, but it does have detachable tabs which can be rearranged as users see fit. This version is compatible with computers running Windows 95 and newer. Web browsers come and go, but over the years Opera has maintained quite a bit of staying power. This latest version includes new desktop widgets, integration with email and chat clients, and sophisticated drag-and-drop functionality. Opera's homepage also includes a helpful FAQ section that will answer any number of queries. This version is compatible with computers running Windows 95 and newer or Mac OS X 10.3 and newer. Opera has always had reliable and interesting bells and whistles, and this version has a few more that are worthy of attention. The new features here include "Quick Find", which remembers not only both the title and addresses of relevant sites, but the actual content as well. Also, this version contains a redesigned address bar drop-down menu. This version is compatible with computers running Mac OS X 10.3, 10.4, or 10.5. [KMG]
