National ETD Portal South Africa: South African theses and Dissertations
This site is run by the South African National Research Foundation (NRF) in collaboration with the Committee of Higher Education Librarians of South Africa (CHELSA).It provides access to the full text of many thousands of doctoral PHD and some other dissertations produced in South African universities. These cover the full range of science, social science and humanities topics. There is some coverage from as early as the 1970s although there are larger numbers of post 2009 records. Thesis Panic.

...Thesis panic is caused by what seems like an impossibly large and difficult project coupled with a fast approaching deadline. Reactions to Thesis Panic vary. Some people are good at calm acceptance, while others, like me, walk around with stomach churning anxiety which makes us distracted, irritable and hard to live with...

Treating problem of doing a thesis as just a matter of ‘work’ explains why productivity techniques only go so far in helping people overcome Thesis Panic. Time management is a concept invented in the industrial age and designed to help people run factories, not intellectual work. Although I am a big fan of productivity literature and the tools it describes, such as the pomodoro technique, they don’t necessarily hold all the answers.

This online discussion board, maintained by American academic Thomas B. Jankowski, is designed to provide support for students in the process of completing a PhD or dissertation. The forums include discussion on the technology being writing up a PhD (e.g. word processors), statistics and research methods, and general moral support. The site is free but donations are invited. The DART-Europe E-theses Portal is a pilot project is formed by a partnership of major European research universities and libraries who are working together to improve global access to European research theses. Partners include : BICfB (Bibliothèque interuniversitaire de la Communauté française de Belgique), Belgium CBUC (Consorci de Biblioteques Universitàries de Catalunya), Spain Deutsche Nationalbibliothek, Germany;DiVA (Digitala Vetenskapliga Arkivet), Sweden and Norway;Dublin City University, Ireland; Ecole polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland; Helsinki University of Technology, Finland Lund University, Sweden; Oxford University, UK; Tartu University, Estonia Trinity College Dublin, Ireland; UCL (University College London); University of Debrecen University and National Library, Hungary, University of Nottingham. The portal aims to provide free access to a searchable database of doctoral dissertation and theses records from its memebers. These cover all areas of the humanities, sciences and social sciences. Many theses are available in full text and can be downloaded subject to copyright. The database may be searched by author, title, keyword or browsed by institution.

University of the Western Cape Electronic Theses and Dissertations Database    
The University of the Western Cape electronic theses and dissertations repository holds full-text theses submitted for degree purposes since 2004.
        

University of the Witwatersrand Electronic Theses and Dissertations Database    
The General Rules of the University requires every post-graduate student to submit two final, corrected copies of the dissertation or research report or thesis in a printed format as well as a final, corrected copy in electronic format. The availability of Wits theses and dissertations electronically will undoubtedly lead to increased visibility of the institution internationally.
