The Library has a new author in its ranks, Siviwe Bangani, who is the Subject Librarian responsible for Electrical Engineering, Geomatics, and Mechanical Engineering. His novel, "Iimbuso zikagawulayo", is a recent publication of the Oxford University Press. Well done, Siviwe!!! We are proud of you!!!

Did Buddhism drive off with your karma? David R. Loy

David R. Loy, American Buddhist writer and activist, author of The Great Awakening: A Buddhist Social Theory comes to the Hout Bay Theravadan Centre on 18 April at 19h30.

His topic will be on karma (kamma) in a 21st century context. David looks at the sutta explanations of karma and argues that Buddhism has settled for a reduced and somewhat stereotyped version of karma. It is worth re-examining what generates good and bad karma, and how this informs our choices, actions and commitments in modern life.
