TESSA offers a range of Open Educational Resources to support teacher education and training.   The resources include lesson plans.

Clicking on South Africa takes one to the TESSA Community for South Africa where there are modules for Literacy, Numeracy, Science, Social Studies/Arts,  and Life Skills.  There is also a very useful resource called  Teacher Educator Guidance.

A truly unbelievable list of useful reference sites ....  going beyond Google and Wikipedia.   The authors of the site, Teaching Tips,  highlight 20 sites they think useful for teachers.    But it is so easy to get sidetracked into the others...    Enjoy!

Research Universities unhappy

Mail and Guardian carries a story about top research universities' unhappiness with the Education Department's allocation this year of research development grants to several universities which did not meet their research targets in 2006.

The story refers to a paper in the South African Journal of Science, written by  Professor Kit Vaughan, deputy dean of research at the University of Cape Town's (UCT) faculty of health sciences.
