e/merge 2006 is almost upon us! Registration has been open for a while at http://emerge2006.net. Of course while you _can_ register at the last moment (being an online conference and all), please be organizer-friendly, and register soon.

We would also like to invite any Cape Town e/mergers to join us at the opening event on Mon 10 July 2006, 5pm - 7pm (details below). The keynote will also be webcast using Breeze for registered participants.

"e/merge 2006 - Learning Landscapes in Southern Africa" is an online conference taking place on http://emerge2006.net from 10 July - 21 July 2006.

The Centre for Educational Technology takes pleasure in inviting you to the conference opening function, which will take place on: Monday 10 July 2006, 5pm - 7pm in Level 2 of the Leslie Social Science Building, Upper Campus, University of Cape Town. Please circulate this invitation to your colleagues as well.

5pm - 6pm (Leslie Social Science 2C):

  • Conference Opening - Tony Carr, Centre for Educational Technology, UCT
  • Keynote address by Professor Kuzvinetsa Peter Dzvimbo, Rector of the African Virtual University (by Internet video conference): "The limits and possibilities of e-learning in Africa: A brief exposé of the AVU experiences"
  • Questions from the floor and Internet participants

6pm - 7pm:
  • Reception (Leslie Social Science Level 2 Foyer)
