Men may well all originate from mars but no way jose that all these women come from the same planet. it's obvious that some come from regions of dark energy, others from superhot solar interior infernos, a few blondes from superdense neutron stars but most are just plain unfathomable aliens from all corners of outer space (a 10 or 11-dimensional multiverse has got plenty of corners). No to me it's more appropriate to say that men are like DOS, women are like linux. DOS is simple, (stupid?), staight-forward, single-tasking, ... and comes into a very few different flavours. The interface is easy and short simple commands is what works best. Linux by contrast is hugely complex, incomprehensible to the unitiatied (ie men) and even stump the experts, can take on 1000s of different appearances (but none of them is WYSIWIG ;), natively supports multi-tasking (i'll leave the multi-user bit for now) but most importantly there are 1000s of different types out there. There's of course Suse, Berry, Beatrix & Wendix; who wouldn't recognize an ubuntu-spirited mamma, the royal red hat & white glove lady, the damn small impish slackware girl? And we've all met freesco, biobrew, diet, independence and cool, whilst easy, cooperative, devil, FIRE, evil entity, dyne:bloic, wolvix, ultimate, en garde, morphix, byzantine and red flag speak for themselves. I've heard that the one you mount on your desktop will not necessary perform as well a server whereas others warn me that installing multiple distros is not a good idea (don't get me into the many upgrading application Wife 1.0 to Girlfriend 2.0 jokes e.g. 1 2 3 4). Which leaves us pondering what with little Ms windows...
