Work and family: towards new forms of reconciliation with social co-responsibility (full-text, 1.36 MB) is a report produced jointly by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the UN Development Programme (UNDP).
According to the report, "in Latin America and the Caribbean, the
number of women active in the labour market rose from 32% in 1990 to
53% in 2008", which means that there are more than 100 million women in
the workforce, who contribute to generating wealth in their countries,
ehnancing the well-being of their households and reducing poverty.
However, the effects on human development has been less than
satisfactory highlighting the challenges of balancing the work and
family life. The last chapter of the report is devoted to proposals for
