I'm a very angry, annoyed little girl today!!
Since the
beginning of the year I've been parking on Woolsack drive but earlier
this week UCT traffic decided that this is a marked "visitors" parking
zone and have been sticking fines to my window since!
Now, I have never seen the sign that said it's visitors parking but okay, lets lets say it is. My question now is WHERE THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO PARK? I dont park halfway to cape town on woolsack drive because i like the 10 min hike up the mountain every morn. If i'm gonna get fines stuck to my window I might as well park right in the middle of campus and take a 2 minute stroll to class.
Also, today i was
the ONLY car with a fine down the WHOLE woolsack drive... i swear, i
checked! Now, u cannot tell me that my car was the ONLY one there
between 8am and 1pm. Does this traffic guy take some personal offence
to my number plate...
As I'm a first year i'm not allowed a student disc and apparently even if i had one, all the availible parking is for visitors! Now again, can someone PLEASE tell me where on gods green earth am I supposed to park?

it's not the fines that bother me that much ( u gant get blood from a
stone ;-p) it's the damn sticky strips that seem to fuse to your
window(lol) that you cannot get off without a proper wash wich, by the way, I don't get round to much!

I'm in agreement with you 100%. UCT "parking" is a goddamn joke, considering the amount of money we pay to study here. Also, when one considers the sheer volume of parking tickets UCT Traffic hands out on a daily basis, SURELY the funds are there for some parking arrangement to be made?
Even a small'ish parking structure would make the world of difference. UCT will retort that there's "no space" to put any more parking, but by god, do we REALLY need no fewer than THREE rugby fields at the bottom of jammie? How about we compromise on 2, and a few hundred extra bays?
The only place that's marginally close is at the gate to Rhodes Mem, with it's plentiful 30 bays. Shared amongst however-many thousand first-years, we're talking bun-fight-royale....
