What is manhood?
Why do so many men believe that they have to be 'macho' to be considered. If you ask a man why do you act so hard and tough he'll say its because Iam a man. Being a man has nothing to do with being controlling. Being a man is about being protective, caring and having leadership qualities; like being a gentleman. It takes a lot more to be able to be a true gentleman then it does to just be rough. Most men are nothing like they say they are for instance, the other day Shathley expressed his dislike for boys or men who wear the colour pink. Nobody says anythinh when a girl puts on blue or dark brown or black. Why are men so afraid of walking into the ‘gay’ category that they cannot even hug each other properly, besides a simple pat on the back, when what the brother needs is a hug. Pink,salmon, actually looks very good on certain male individuals, in fact most men I have seen in pink I thought they looked very good., sometimes a lot better than girls. Pink does not symbolize femininity, it symbolizes, serenity,calmness, and softness. There is nothing wrong with a man who is gentle and affectionate. It does not make him passive it just makes him human but often times men like to act like they do not care about anything or get affected by anything because they are men. What has our society turned into that we teach boys that if you cannot fight, be aggressive, or dominatingly controlling you are not a man. What about the men who were created by God who were not born with the hardness of character associated with men because God has a different purpose for their lives or if you will, what if a man never grew up around that type of an environment and it is not naturally embedded in their nature? Do we then pronounce them gay? I do not think this is at all logical. We complain about the dangers of media but men have to go through it everyday, hiding behind the world’s mask and what society expects you to be. A man shoul not have to be characterized with acts of violence,or dominance that is exactly what we are trying to change. If you have a lot of women you are famous and envied and girls want you even more. What are we encouraging our men to be like?
