Posted by Itumeleng | 23 Mar, 2007i honestly dont think hip hop is dead i feel it has just evolved... yes nowadays the things we here is actually quite rubish when it comes to lyrical content but at the end of the day hip hop is here to entertain us... and whether you like to admit it or not it entertaines millions of people world wide everyday... i think hip-hop as culture has influenced more youths than any thing else in the past 20 years.. we can see it at how people dress, there choice of words etc... its influence is large it has influenced gang culture even here in south africa... some say it depics violence and degrades women... and i would agree it is kinda hard to defend it on those grounds but i feel it is a reflection of what many people go through everyday, but now they a lil bit more money.... and since i'm talking about eoulution of cultures isn't hip-hop a microcosm of what is happening to cultures all over the world.. we look in africa and asia where tradition and custom was the rule of order... now westren culture is taking over... now it is about money and being civilized... in hip-hop since big buissness started taking notice of it... money has been the rule of order

and if u looking for quality rappers with quality lyrics... u can always chech out the underground scene... u should find what u whant...
hip hop just like society has evolved it has not died in the sense that during the struggle the youth had injustices such as oppression of which they could make a noise about. it is ten years later now and all that is irrelevent to today's society and the hip hop game has shifted from its seriousness to being more enjoyable. Hip hop goes with the times. Generally life is about money and status. hip hop today reflects that. maybe in ten years time the game would've changed again.
