Pathology: The Science Behind the Cure

Pathology is derived from the Greek words pathos (“suffering”) and -logia (“an account of”). It is the science of diseases.

Anatomical pathology studies diseases by examining the anatomical structures, such as the body (autopsy pathology), the tissues (histopathology), the cells (cytopathology), the subcellular structures (ultrastructural pathology) and the cellular molecules (molecular pathology).

Anatomical pathologists are medical specialists that receive specimens taken by other doctors and make disease diagnoses based on the specimen received.
